Successful Stripe Billing Migration at Babbel

Background

As part of a strategic realignment of its legacy home-grown payment systems, Babbel decided to migrate to Stripe Billing as its central payment platform. The goal was to standardize global subscription billing management and payment processing, increase scalability, and establish a modern, future-proof infrastructure capable of supporting the company’s long-term growth.

The project was of high strategic importance and spanned a two-year period. It required additional resourcing, which led to the decision to engage external engineering expertise to strengthen their internal capabilities and ensure project continuity.

To ensure a successful and timely migration, Sevendos provided a specialized engineering team with proven experience in complex payment platform integrations.

At its peak, the team consisted of six experts from Central and Eastern Europe — including backend developers, full-stack engineers, and an engineering manager/architect. The team structure was flexibly scaled throughout the project in line with Babbel’s evolving requirements.

Technical Approach

The migration was delivered using modern cloud-native and DevOps practices, ensuring high reliability, scalability, and maintainability. 

The focus was on system stability, scalable architecture, and clean API design — enabling a seamless migration with minimal downtime and smooth integration into Babbel’s existing ecosystem.

Results
